Chapman, of Atlanta, was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison; Daniel C. Labrum, of South Jordan, Utah, was sentenced to two years in prison; and Eric J. O\u2019Neil, of Bethel, Connecticut, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three ultimately obtained approximately $3.5 million in funds intended for small businesses that were financially struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit said that the defendants&#8217; crimes were part of a larger COVID-19 fraud ring, working with other criminals to falsify information and submit fake documents to financial institutions in Boise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nav.nkwcmr.net\/c\/3501156\/1849067\/2410\" target=\"_top\" id=\"1849067\" rel=\"noopener\"><img  title=\"\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/a.impactradius-go.com\/display-ad\/2410-1849067\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"2410-1849067 Three individuals sentenced for 3.5 million dollar COVID-19 relief fraud.\"  width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><img  title=\"\"  alt=\"2410 Three individuals sentenced for 3.5 million dollar COVID-19 relief fraud.\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"0\" width=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/nav.nkwcmr.net\/i\/3501156\/1849067\/2410\" style=\"position:absolute;visibility:hidden;\" border=\"0\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PPP loans were issued by a Boise financial institution and guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 17, 2021, the Attorney General established the COVID-19 Fraud Enforcement Task Force to marshal the resources of the Justice Department in partnership with agencies across government to enhance efforts to combat and prevent pandemic-related fraud.
